In 2012 AWL NMSU partnered with the non-profit organization Bridges to Prosperity (B2P) to provide year-round access to the community Herrera Cancha in central Bolivia. Nineteen students traveled to Bolivia in the summer of 2012 to construct a pedestrian suspended bridge in the community. The community members were unable to cross the river five months out of the year due to heavy rain fall. The bridge benefited over 100 families in the area giving them a way to connect to the life-line of the community which is the road. The bridge will give the community easy access to education, access to healthcare facilities and a way for farmers to take their crops to the market in a nearby town.
